James Richard Everly, 69, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on September 30, 1943 in Daviess Co., to the late Bernard and Isabelle Gaddis Everly. Jimmy graduated from Henderson Community College with a degree in nursing. He worked at Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital as a registered nurse from 1975 until 1978 and then moved to Omaha IL where he worked at the Harrisburg Medical Center until his retirement in 2005. During his time in Harrisburg, he mainly worked with the mentally ill. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a Ky. Colonel. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bernard Lee Everly, Jr. on April 15, 1940, George Benjamin Virgil Everly on March 20, 1946, and Robert C. Everly on April 7, 1951, and a sister, Dorothy Holt on September 22, 1997.
Surviving are three sisters, Jo Ann Everly, Mary Sue Newton and husband Bobby, and Margaret Bolin and husband Jim, all of Owensboro, his extended family, the Lytle's of Omaha, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 24, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 8:30 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
