James Wayne Endsley

James Wayne Endsley, 81, of Owensboro, went to be with the Lord on Sunday November 10, 2024, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born February 11, 1943, in Bloomburg, Texas, to the late Wayne and Juanita Wood Endsley. James graduated from Bloomburg High School in 1960, top 10 in his class. He was a very smart guy, whatever he put his mind to, he could do it. James had three working careers. He worked for FINA in the oil and gas business for 25 years as the Director of gas measurement, followed by the Texas Railroad Commission for 5 years, then from 2005 till 2019 he owned and operated Endsley’s Auto Sales in Owensboro, KY.

James raised cattle in Texas, he enjoyed going fishing, and riding his Can-Am. James was very involved with Gideons International, taught middle school Sunday School class for many years while living in Texas. He and Mary Ann have been members of First Baptist Church for almost 20 years here in Owensboro. Most of all, He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Mason Endsley; his children, Tammy (Doug) Dodson and Jewel “Bubba” Endsley; grandchildren, Kraton Dodson, Taylor (Cortney) Dodson, Davis Dodson, Hayden Endsley, Carli Endsley, Coltin Endsley, and Aydriaunna Endsley; great-grandchildren, Dexton Dodson, Endsley Dodson, and Sonny Dodson; a brother, Carroll (Linda) Endsley; many nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for James Endsley will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday November 13, 2024, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. 

The burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday November 16, 2024, in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 23465 State Hwy 237, Doddridge, AR 71834. Visitation there will take place Saturday prior to the graveside service from 12:00 p.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Hanner Funeral Services 103 West Main Street Atlanta, TX 75551.

The family would like to give a special thank you to James’ caregivers who showed him and his family so much love and compassion, and they are Lucy, Tina, Trish, Shelly, Addie, and Joyce.
