James Edwin Embry Sr.

James Edwin Embry Sr., 71, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, under the care of Hospice of W. Kentucky. The Butler County native was born May 22, 1952, as one of seven children to the late Ira Rethal Embry and Mary Burns Embry. James was employed at Owensboro Brick and Tile as a forklift operator, Whitehall Furniture and Wholesale Petroleum as a maintenance man before he retired. James enjoyed hunting and working on lawn mowers. He was a long-standing member of Garden Green Baptist Church.  

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of over 42 years, Nora Newton Embry; four children, James Edwin Embry Jr. (Mendy), Tiffany Ann Payne (Marvin), Jeremy Lee Embry, and James Steven Embry (Keesha); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; six siblings, Ira Embry Jr., Wayne Embry, Alice Berry, Patty Clark, Pam Green (Kevin), and Betty Barnett; numerous nieces and nephews.    

The memorial service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 24 at Glenn Funeral Home with visitation from noon until the time of the service.
