James C. Ellis

James C. Ellis III, 74, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. J. C. was born August 7, 1936 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late James L. and Nell Bresler Ellis. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ellis Chase.

He was an accomplished farmer most of his life as well as a thoroughbred horse trainer and owner. He and his family are past owners of Ellis Park where he served as Vice-President. Later he became Trustee of the James C. Ellis Estate. He loved hunting and fishing especially with his grandchildren.

J. C. will be sadly missed by his wife of 30 years, Lupe Ellis, his children, James C. Ellis IV and wife Vicki of Owensboro, Bridget Ellis Mattingly of Hilton Head, S.C., Sally Ellis of Owensboro, William S. Yunker of Owensboro, and Joseph L. Yunker of St. Paul, MN., grandchildren, Kolbe Mattingly, Maggie Mattingly, James C. Ellis V, Annah Ellis, and Bayli Boling.

Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, July 28, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend John Vaughan officiating. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
