James Orvel Edge, 73, of Philpot, passed away Monday June 11, 2018 at his home under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mr. Edge was born July 7 1944 in Daviess County to the late James Orvel Edge Sr. and Regina Camilla Edge Burch. James graduated from St. Marys High School in 1962 and a year later he graduated from Auto Diesel College in Nashville, TN. He worked for Southern Automotive, General Electric, and retired from Alcan Aluminum after 37 years of dedicated service. James and his wife Wanda were also members of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church.
Along with his father, who was killed in France in 1944, during the battle of Saint Lo in World War II; his mother, Regina Camilla Edge Burch; James was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Protase Burch.
James is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Wanda Jean Fischer Edge; a daughter, Mary Ann Edge Hagerman of Owensboro; his sons, Christopher Edge of Evansville, IN, and Ryan Edge and his wife, Jennifer, of Owensboro; a sister, Wanda Durbin of Cleveland, TN; brothers, Cletus Burch of Adolphus, KY and Dennis Burch and his wife, Joyce, of Knottsville; granddaughters, Madeleine Edge, Jaclyn Hagerman, and Lillian Edge; and grandsons, Christopher Ryan Edge, Christian Hagerman, Aiden Edge, and Nate Edge.
A funeral mass will be 11 AM Thursday, June 14 at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Jean Kalombo and Fr. Richard Cash officiating. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 AM till 10:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
