James Henry Devillez

December 16, 1933 — June 10, 2009

James Henry Devillez, 75, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born December 16, 1933 in Tell City, Mr. Devillez was the son of the late Earl and Elsie Lambeck Devillez; retired in 1996 from Green River Steel after 22 years of service; had been attending Bridgepointe Church; and was an Air Force Veteran. He was a 1952 graduate of Tell City High School, received an associate degree from Owensboro Business College, was a member of AMVETS Post 119; the VFW; was a Kentucky Colonel; and enjoyed gardening, reading , fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, LaVerne Hughes Devillez; a daughter, Lisa (Greg) Carter of Benton, KY; a son, James E. (Sheri) Devillez, Jr. of Wildwood, MO; grandchildren, George Carter, C.J. Carter, John Carter, Bailey Devillez, and Madison Devillez; a brother, David (Laverne) Devillez; nephews, Matt Devillez and Chris Devillez; and his mother-in-law, Wilma Weigand.

Services are 12 Noon Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Cripps officiating followed by burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
