James Richard Davis

James Richard Davis, Sr. 69, of 4312 Jefferson St., Owensboro, died Saturday, October 11, 2003 at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native retired from A& P Groceries after 28 years and worked for Medley Distillery and Barton Brands for 14 years. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and the American Legion; served in the Naval Reserve for 8 years; and enjoyed reading and spending time with his grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anna Marie Oberst Davis; two sons, James Richard Davis, Jr. of Cincinnati and Michael J. Davis of Owensboro ; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Mark Steitler of Owensboro; a grandson, Daniel Mark Steitler of Owensboro; his mother, Myrtle Davis of Owensboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marian Davis of Owensboro; two brothers-in-law, Gerald (and Mary Ann) Oberst of Owensboro and Clete (and Dee) Oberst of Dayton, OH; three sisters-in-law, Rose (and Al) Clark, Margaret Oberst, and Elizabeth OBryan all of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 10 A.M. Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Glenn Funeral Home from 3-8 P.M. on Monday and after 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 6:30 P.M. on Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph or the Passionist Monastery.
