James Edward "Eddie" Curry, 90, of Owensboro, KY, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Mr. Curry was born in Owensboro, KY, to the late Simon and Mandy Davis Curry on September 16, 1919. He served in the Army during World War II, worked at The Smoke Shop, and spent 27 years at Raines Shoe Hospital. Mr. Curry was a member of Tenth Street Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sara Willingham Curry, his brothers, Gable Barker, Ferdinand Barker, Johnny Johnson, David Curry, Christopher Curry, and Randall Curry; and his sister, Helen Fox.
Survivors include his daughter Carol Linda Curry of Owensboro; a son, James R. Curry of Rochester, NY; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Curry Robinson of Owensboro; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5 at Tenth Street Missionary Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
