James L. Clark

December 28, 1926 — April 5, 2010

James L. "Monk" Clark, 83, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2010 at his home. He was born on Dec. 28, 1926 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Thomas H. and Lucy Merimee Clark. He was retired after 33 years with the Hon Co. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AmVets, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 2414. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, golfing, watching U. K. basketball, and cookouts with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Davis Clark on Sept. 3, 2006, five brothers, Melvin, Hugh, R. T., Donald, and Merimee Clark, a sister, Maxine Evans, and a son-in-law, Larry Cornette.

Surviving are three sons, Larry Clark and wife Beverly of Lewisport, Terry Clark and wife Debra of Owensboro, and Randy Clark of Owensboro, two daughters, Debra Burden of Owensboro and Connie Clark and companion Quan Shemwell of Owensboro, two stepsons, Jimmy Davis and wife Betty Jo of Lewisport and Gary Davis and companion Bruce Sorenson of Chicago, two stepdaughters, Patty Cornette of Greenville and Beverly Penrod and husband Freddie of Central City, two brothers, Frankie M. Clark and wife Betty of Owensboro and Jerry Clark and wife Carol of Washington State, a sister, Barbara Ann Newcom and husband Richard of Owensboro, 21 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Services will be 12 Noon Wednesday, April 7 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1302 Frederica St., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
