James "Jim" Chatman, 85, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at his home. He was born December 8, 1924 to the late Brady and Carrie Ewing Chatman in Henderson County. He was retired from Alcoa, a member of Center Street Baptist Church, a Mason, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and talking on his ham radio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Essie Mae Chatman on September 15, 1995, and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his children; a son, Wayne Chatman of Owensboro, a daughter, Shirley Chatman of Indianapolis, IN; a grandson, Xevier Simpson; a brother, Raymond Chatman of Dayton, OH, and a sister, Effie Chatman of Louisville; nephews, Neal Williams of Union Springs, AL, and Larry Winstead of Louisville, a niece, Margaret Shemwell of Louisville, and several others nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday and after 8:30 AM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossings, Owensboro, KY 42301.
