James "Jim" Carman, 81, of Philpot, Kentucky died Monday, October 12, 2009, at Owensboro Medical Health Systems. Mr. Carman was born in Hancock County, KY on April 5, 1928, to the late Steve and Ollie Robertson Carman. He began his career as a teller at Owensboro Federal in 1959 and retired from Cardinal Federal as Executive Vice President in 1992. Mr. Carman served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church. He loved gardening in the summer, woodworking in the winter and spending as much time as possible on his farm. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Irene Alvey, Emmitt Carman, Louetta Voiles, Charles Carman, and Harold Carman.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Anna Kay Carman; a son, Bruce Carman and his wife Cyndee of Murray; a daughter, Gale Failinger and her husband Tom of Greenfield, IN; grandchildren, Allison Carman Mize of Jupiter, FL, Clay Carman of Murray, Ben Failinger, Brian Failinger and David Failinger all of Greenfield, IN; great grandchildren, Cade Carman Mize and Cooper Carman Mize of Jupiter, FL; and a brother, David Carman and his wife Susan of Mitchell, IN.
Services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cloverport Cemetery.
