James Burden

January 7, 1940 — May 16, 2015

James "Bob" Burden Sr., 75, of Maceo, went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Bob was born in Daviess County on January 7, 1940 to the late Oscar Owen and Mary Jones Burden. Bob worked for Commonwealth Aluminum and retired after 31 years of service. When Bob wasn't working you would often find him fishing or enjoying one of his other hobbies which included reading and watching westerns, listening to music, or thrift shopping. Family time was important to Bob, and he loved cooking for his family. It has been said that he made up the best barbeque chicken in town and often served it with fresh vegetables from his garden. Faith was important to Bob and he was a member of Maceo Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Mae Shouse Burden; a granddaughter, Amber Michelle Burden; and two sisters, Dorothy Hutchason and Betty Payne.

Survivors include his children, James R. (Bobbie Gail) Burden Jr., Daniel (Angie) Burden, Barry Burden, Rick (Tina) Burden, Debbie (Ed) Winters, Shirley (Butch) Brown; 17 grandchildren, a whole mess of great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Bob will be held 2 pm Monday, May 18, 2015 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Bro. Scott Ford will officiate. Visitation will be 1 until 6 pm on Sunday and after 12 on Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens
