James Robert Boone, Sr., 47, formerly of Owensboro, resided at 5228 Rice Road, Antioch , TN for the last ten years. He died in his sleep at his sister-in-laws house, JoAnn Cecil, in Hawesville. He was born June 2, 1960 to the late James A. and Sophia Ann Purcell Boone in Daviess County. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Nashville, and was Marketing Manager for Centurion Stone and Exteriors, where he and his soul-mate, Lydia, worked side by side. When he lived in Owensboro he was known as the Go-Kart King. He helped build and run the first Go-Kart track in Owensboro at Golfland USA. He did that for four years until he worked at Diamond Lake and built the first NasKart track in Owensboro. He enjoyed watching western's, Court TV, Beverly Hillbilly's and Cops. He was always known as the bar-b-que king by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, and soul-mate, of 29 years, Lydia House Boone; his two sons, James Boone of Nashville, TN, and Jonathan Boone of Owensboro; his sister, Judy Troutman of Atlanta, GA; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Cecil and her son, Barry of Hawesville, an uncle, James Bernard Boone; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include, Becky and Charles Jean, Roberta and Joey House and Tracy and David House; several nieces and nephews; cousins, Ernie Davis and his wife, Martha, Jerry Davis and his wife, Helen; two great-aunts, Lois Purcell and Pearl Greenlee; his favorite pets, Ace and Buddy.
Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.glennfuneralhome
