James A. Bennett

James A. "Pete" Bennett, 78, of 2220 Citation Ave., Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Jefferson Co., Ky. to the late Leonard and Flossie Raikes Bennett. He was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church and was retired from Western Ky. Gas Co. after 39 years of service. He was a very loving Grandpa and enjoyed spending a lot of time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, raising a vegetable garden, and joking around with everyone. He was a person who never met a stranger. He was also preceded in death by his brother, P. L. Bennett on Aug. 8, 2005.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Martha Pearl Bennett, a son, Todd Bennett and wife Sherrie of Owensboro, a daughter, Tonya Jo Blake and husband Robin of Owensboro, four grandchildren, Jamie Bennett, Daniel Leonard Bennett, Brandon James Blake, and Sarah Beam, and a great grandchild, Dalton Gilmore.

Services will be 12:00 P.M. Noon Tuesday, April 1, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
