James Allen Basham

July 24, 1951 — September 9, 2004

James Jim Basham, 53, of 1818 Asbury Place, Owensboro, passed away September 9, 2004 at his home. He was born in Fort Campbell, KY. He was employed by Anderson Windows. He was a member of First General Baptist Church and had been active with the youth group for several years, served as Assistant District Administrator for Little League and President of Eastern Little League for a total of 20 years. He participated in the Owensboro Chapter Charity Walk for Arthritis Foundation in his wheelchair in 1984 and on crutches in 1985. He received the Star award for volunteer of the year in Daviess County and was on the YMCA board and volunteered with water therapy classes. He was a fan of UK basketball and enjoyed fishing and grilling.

Preceding him in death is his father, Shirley W. Basham.

Surviving is his wife of 34 years, Georgia Willis Basham of Owensboro, KY. He was the loving father of four sons; Jason Basham, and Angela Baker,of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Jarrod Basham and his wife Erin of Livermore, KY; Jordan Basham of Bowling Green, KY and Jake Basham at home. Also surviving are his mother, Wynona Snyder of Owensboro; his sister, Junie and husband Jay Hudson of Livermore, KY and a brother, Charles Butch Basham of Owensboro; and 7 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 13, 2004, at 2 p.m. at First General Baptist Church in Owensboro. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. on Saturday and 12 until 6 on Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home. There will be no visitation on Monday. Burial will be in Pleasant Hope Cemetery in McLean County following the funeral. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First General Baptist Church Building Fund.
