Mr. James J.B. Basczinski, 77 of 2204 Dickey Drive, Owensboro died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at his home. Mr. Basczinski was a native of Holland, Poland, and after immigrating to the United States, served 22 years and retired from the U.S. Army. He was a military policeman and a prisoner of war during the Korean War, and also served in Vietnam. He received a Purple Heart for a wound he suffered on December 29, 1950. He operated J.B.s Heating and Air for 27 years, and was of the Roman Catholic faith. He enjoyed being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Greg and Mary Basczinski a daughter, Debi Aull, and a grandson, Jeremy Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lavenna R. Basczinski, daughter Cindy (Louie) May of Owensboro, stepson Bobby (Ann) Back of North Carolina, stepdaughter Linda (Mike) Craven of Louisville, Ky., and stepson Steven L. Back, of Frankfort, Ky., grandchildren, Mandy and Eric May, Steve Martin, and step-grandchildren, Christy Craven and Jennifer Back, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, March 9, 2007 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens, with military honors. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association
