James Alsup, 82, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born January 8, 1926 to the late Robert and Annie Thomas Alsup in Logan County. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves baseball and working in his garden.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Alsup on November 12, 2007, a son, James L. Alsup, three brothers, Joe, Earl and Raymond Alsup, and a sister, Mildred Carlise.
Survivors include his daughters, Brenda and Ken Cross of Lakewood, CO, Nancy and Eugene Campbell of Lexington Park, MD, and Carolyn and Bill Sturges of Owensboro; seven granddaughters, Kim Daniele, Kelley Griego, Kasey Cross, Kerri Cross, Rebecca Wood, Susan Campbell and Katie Sturges, one grandson, Samuel Sturges; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Curtis and Bill Alsup, nine sisters, Linda Redd, Connie Kassinger, Bonnie Willis, Elsie Conder, Dorothy Parks, Viola Manley, Mary Henderson, Ruth Godwin and Belle Grace.
Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, with Military Honors presented by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be 2:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday, and after 8:30 AM Friday at the funeral home.
