James R. Allen

James R. Allen, 81, of 2829 Wayside Drive West, Owensboro, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at his home. Born in Daviess County, Kentucky on June 28, 1919, he was the son of the Lee Allen and Nellie Barnett Allen.

Mr. Allen was retired from the Kentucky Army National Guard. He was a member of Peoples Baptist Church, The National Guard Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Muriel C. Allen; three daughters, Nellie A. Rhoades of Godfrey, IL, Betty Powers of Seminole, FL, and Linda Camron of Owensboro, KY; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Reverend Odell Beauchamp. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2001 and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
