James Philip (Phil) Alexander II, 61, passed away on Friday November 6, 2009 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on December 1, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Aulena H. Alexander. He has been residing in Louisville in the Pathways Brain Injury Program at Christopher East since a motorcycle accident in August of 2008.
Phil graduated from Daviess Co. High School in 1965 and served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam in 1968-1969. He was last employed in maintenance at the Poplar Grove Apartment Complex in Lewisport. He was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church and was an avid motorcycle rider for many years and loved his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle very much.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Harley and husband Bo of Depauw, IN, a son, Dr. James Philip (Jimmy) Alexander III and wife Jessica of St. Augustine, FL, and a sister, Janice Chumbler and husband Jim of Lebanon, TN. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Peyton and Jake Harley of Depauw, Kayla, Gavin, and Victoria Alexander of St. Augustine, a niece, Cyndi Mathis of Myrtle Beach, S.C., two nephews, Steve Chumbler and wife Lori of Lebanon and Mike Chumbler of Smyrna, TN., as well as many friends.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 14, in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Kentucky-Indiana Chapter, 1030 Goss Avenue, Louisville, KY 40217-1236.
