James Edward Albin

April 19, 1937 — September 3, 2010

James Edward Albin, 73, of Philpot, Kentucky, passed away in his sleep on Friday, September 03, 2010. Jim's special loves were his wife, his children, Dos Cabezos and the Old West. Growing up in Arizona, he embraced the cowboy way of life; at 6'5", his boots and hat were his signature.
Jim was a pioneer in the air pollution control industry and commanded a respected reputation as one of the best in his field as an Air Pollution Control Specialist.
Rugged and gentle, his family and friends enjoyed his sweet spirit. Jim liked driving a new Ford truck, a day that the fish were biting, and a good game of Dominos.
Jim served in the 82nd Airborne and made a total of 29 jumps before a severe knee injury grounded him.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two sons, James E. Albin, Jr. of Payson, AZ. and Chance Albin of Pholpot, three daughters; Becky Albin of Phoenix, AZ., Ashley West Sollars of Newburg, IN. and Mattie Gregston of Animes, NM. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Albin, his father, Herbert L. Albin; two brothers Leroy and Charley Albin, one sister; Martha (Tutie) Sparks, and his best pal, Junior Grey.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, KY at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
