Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Jones, 84, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born in Owensboro to the late Louis and Alpha Easton Kiefer.
Jackie worked as an office manager for many years. Her career included Cox Paper Company and the Barret-Fisher Company. Jackie had been named an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and was a long-time member of St. Stephen Cathedral where she and her husband were married.
She and her husband Ronnie loved old cars. They had owned their 1965 Pontiac Tempest convertible for 49 years. Jackie enjoyed car shows and served as both secretary and vice-president of Owensboro Antique Car Club for many years. She was an avid baseball fan, having visited many major league baseball parks and accumulating an impressive collection of baseball memorabilia. To round things out, she also had an extensive collection of Cinderella themed items, owls and sunflower decorations.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, David “Smokey” Millay.
Jackie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ronald C. Jones; sisters, Marti Church and Rebecca “Becky” Millay; a nephew, (son of Marti) Brian Church (Lana); niece and nephews, (children of Becky) Brandon Millay, Barry Millay (Jen), Sarah Beyke (Jarod) and Christopher Millay; several great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass will be at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, September 4 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday and from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass Wednesday. The family suggests casual attire. The private burial will be at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery.
