Jacob Louis "Jake" Horn

Jacob L. “Jake” Horn, 88, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Signature Healthcare—Hartford. He was born February 18, 1937, in Spencer County, Indiana, to the late Callie L. and Dorothy McIntire Horn. Jake was preceded in death by his brother, Cleon Horn, and a sister, Phyllis Small.

Jake was a member of Masonville Methodist Church and a retired over-the-road truck driver for Mercer Transportation. He loved fishing, hunting, farming, gardening, and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Jake loved his trip to England and France with his wife Mary Ann. In particular, he was moved by the sacrifice of so many young men when touring the beaches of Normandy. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada and his trip with his son Kevin to visit military museums. Jake was never hesitant to share all his wisdom regarding gardening, preserving the harvest, and knowing how to love life with his daughter, Kelly. Jake had been a member of the Masonic Brotherhood for 50 years, with his most recent membership at Ensor #729, as well as the Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years.

Surviving is his wife of 69 ½ years, Mary Ann Shrode Horn; his children, Dr. Kelly Morris (Dale Guffy) of Philpot and Kevin Horn (Stephanie) of Crofton; two grandchildren, Jacob Morris (Paige) of Clinton, Indiana and Daniel Morris of Philpot; a sister, Terri Mueller of Louisville; and several beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday, April 22, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 AM Tuesday until the time of the service at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Shiloh Cemetery in Rockport, Indiana.

The family states that suspenders, overalls or casual dress are welcome because “Jake would want you to be comfortable”!
