Jackie Watwood, 85, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the Heartford House under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born February 27, 1941 in Simpson County, KY to the late Irene Holman Watwood and Hugh Watwood. Jackie was retired as an electrician from Green River Steel, also had been the manager of the former Topline Motors Auto Sales, had worked at Perfect Patterns Machine Shop, and was a U. S. Air Force veteran. Jackie enjoyed volunteering at Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital, and loved to dance and sing where he sang in several church choirs, and did karaoke. When he could, he enjoyed walking and was a very charming and witty person. Besides his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Muffett and a brother, Charles Watwood.
Surviving are his daughter, Denise Maupin and husband Brett of Owensboro and a son, Gregory Watwood and spouse Sergio of Las Vegas; a grandson, Zachary Maupin (Cordie) and two great grandchildren, Addy and Franklin Maupin, all of Owensboro; two brothers and a sister, Eddie Watwood of Franklin, Roger Watwood of Smiths Grove, and Janice Buttrey of Fairview, Tennessee; and a cousin who was like a brother to him, Larry Deasy of Waco, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Friday, March 6 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. The committal service and burial will be 2:30 PM Friday at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin. Visitation will be 6 PM until 8 PM Thursday and after 9 AM Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Heartford House and Cornerstone Caregiving and their staffs for all the love and compassionate care they gave Jackie.
