Jack R. Wilson

Jack R. Wilson, 84, of Owensboro, Kentucky died Monday, October 25, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County, Mr. Wilson was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and retired owner of Jack Wilson Insurance which he operated for 33 years. He was also retired from the Catholic Pastoral Center, and was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Serra Club. He enjoyed music and over the years was a soloist for weddings and funerals throughout the community and appeared on film as an extra in the movie Showboat. A U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theatre. He was a member of the American Legion and a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lilly Englert Wilson on July 27, 2010, his parents, Roy C. Wilson and Mary Lee Riley Wilson, and his brother, William C. "Check" Wilson, his half-sister Toby Lou Dukes, and his half-brothers Jimmy Wilson, Ronnie Wilson, and Billy Wilson.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Elizabeth Gardner (Rick) of Clarksville, IN, Colleen Lewis (Richard) of Traverse City, MI, and Sally A. Sanders (Steve), of Owensboro; his sons Jack R. Wilson, Jr. of Milton, FL, Michael J. Wilson (Teresa) of Utica, and Blaise Wilson of Owensboro; 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; his sister, Colleen Rouse and his sister-in-law, Lucille Wilson, both of Owensboro.

The funeral mass for Mr. Wilson will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 until 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where prayers will be said at 6:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St. Joseph Peace Mission for Children, 1328 W. Third Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
