Jack Stanley Dubber

November 11, 1924 — March 29, 2006

Jack Stanley Dubber, 81, of 1612 West Second Street, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Evansville, a son of the late Oscar and Helen Wund Dubber, he was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, a former police officer, having retired from the Owensboro Police Department after serving from 1949 until 1981, and a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific on the islands Tulag, Tanambogo, and Guvutu. Mr. Dubber was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, AmVets, the Eagles, and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police where he served as secretary for sixteen years. He was also a member of the Elizabeth Munday Center, the Daviess County Fish and Game Farm, and was vice-president of the Rough River Shores Association in Grayson County. His interests included cooking, woodworking, camping, and fishing. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Dubber.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean Bartley Dubber; 2 daughters, Sheila Shively and Carmel Carlisle and her husband Terry, both of Owensboro; 2 sons, Howard Dubber and his wife Barbara of Paducah and Dennis Bartley and his wife Cindy of Owensboro; 6 grandchildren, Paul Shively, Laura Carlisle, Lindsey Carlisle, Nathan (Jessica) Bartley, Adam Bartley, Chris Riley; and 4 great grandchildren, Nicholas Riley, Matthew Riley, Emma Riley, and Alexis P. Bartley.

Services, officiated by Dr. Dennis McFadden, are at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 8:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Eaton Memorial Baptist Church.
