Jack D. Crump, 76, of 4830 Millers Mill Rd., Owensboro, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on February 16, 1930 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Frank & Lora Kirk Crump. He was retired after 40 years with Texas Gas Transmission Corp. where he was the manager of Records Management & Information. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral where he had been a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He had been very active during his life. He was a past member and president (1962-63) of the Owensboro Jaycees, past president (1964-65) of the Kentucky Jaycees, past member of the U. S. Jaycees Board of Directors (1964-65), and had received the honor as Outstanding Local President of the Ky. Jaycees (1962-63) and District Vice President (1963-64). He was a life member of the Owensboro, Danville, and Crittenden Co. Jaycees. He had been a member and past President (1973-75) of the Lt. Robert Moseley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and past State President (1976-77) and he was the recipient of the Sons of the American Revolution Patriot Medal (1978) which is the highest award presented by the Kentucky organization. He was on the Board of Directors of the Owensboro-Daviess Co. Chamber of Commerce from 1962-63, a member and past board member of the Windridge Country Club, was a Ky. Colonel, and had been a delegate to the 1976 National G.O.P. Convention. He enjoyed family cookouts, Ky. basketball, playing golf, annual trips to Seagrove Beach, Fl., working on family history, working outdoors, and spending time with the Blandford Drive-In regulars. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Emma H. Crump on June 19, 1995.
Surviving is his wife of eight years, Glenda J. Crump, two sons, Jack D. and wife Shelly Crump, Jr. of Owensboro, and Michael D. Crump of Danville, Va., four daughters, Mary Ann Ruby and Susan C. Funk, both of Owensboro, Barbara L. and husband Mike Wassellewski of Princeton, Ky., and Paula and husband Ricky Jones of Penhook, Va., three stepsons, Randy and wife Sheryl Malone of Chula Vista, Ca., and Kenny and wife Cathy Malone and Jimmy and wife Kelly Malone, all of Owensboro, a stepdaughter, Shari and husband Tom Stinnett of Owensboro, a half-brother, Frank Crump, Jr. of Owensboro, and seven grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, and seven step great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 13, at St. Stephen Cathedral with entombment following in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday with prayers at 6:00 P.M. and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home.
