Jack A. Connor, of 4109 Mason Woods Lane, Owensboro, died Friday, April 1, 2005 at the Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, Arizona. Born in East St. Louis, MO, and raised in Hannibal, MO, a son of the late Robert E. and Dora Wood Connor, he graduated from Westminster College, attended Washington and Lee University College of Law and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Missouri Law School. Mr. Connor was a member of the American Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the Daviess County Bar Association which he served as president, served as U.S. Commissioner for the Federal District Court, was admitted to practice before the United State Supreme Court, and was named Senior Counselor by the Kentucky Bar Association. An active member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, he had served as chairman of its Administrative Board, was Sunday school teacher of the Open Door class, a certified lay speaker, and a delegate to the Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. Mr. Connor was a 52-year member of the Owensboro Lions Club which he served as president and by which he was designated a Melvin Jones Fellow, and served on the board of directors of the Joann Field Foundation. A former trustee of Kentucky Wesleyan College, he had served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and was awarded an honorary LLD by the institution. He had served on the board of directors of the Kentucky Horse Council and as chairman of the Horse Show Division of the Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows. Mr. Connor was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and an active reservist during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Reynolds Connor, his daughter, Christine Connor Carrico of Bowling Green, his granddaughter, Nicole L. Carrico of Bowling Green, his niece, Kim Connor-Kuhn, and his nephews, Terry Connor, Robert Connor, and Tim Connor.
Services are at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial funds of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church or The Boulware Center.
