J. B. Mitchell

J. B. Mitchell, 95, of 4661 Thruston-Dermont Road, Owensboro, died Thursday, November 8, 2001, on Thruston-Dermont Road from injuries suffered in a car accident. He was born September 4, 1906 in Daviess Co., KY the son of Jesse Forest and Minnie Johnson Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Avery Florence Mitchell in 1996; and a son, James L. Mitchell, on June 11, 1997.

Mr. Mitchell was retired from farming and enjoyed dancing in area senior dances. He was an active supporter of Boulware Center and Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include two sons, J. W. Mitchell of Humboldt, AZ; and Billy Mitchell of San Antonio; a daughter, Della Florence Case of Pellville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Dr. Glenn Sowards. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends at Glenn Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2001 and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.
