J. R. Miller

March 31, 1916 — February 18, 2003

J.R. Miller, 86, of 256 Wesleyan Place, died Tuesday, February 18, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Vicksburg, Mississippi native was retired Chief Executive Officer of Green River Electric, former Mayor of Owensboro, former Chairman of the Kentucky Democratic Party, past President of the former Audubon Boy Scout Council, a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and a US Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Tommie Melton Miller; three sons, James M. Miller, Timothy R. Miller, and Mark K. Miller, all of Owensboro; two daughters, Jane Haase of Owensboro and Mary Dee Miller of Henderson; eight grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
