Iva Sue Boarman

On May 31st, 2024, Iva Sue Boarman, 82, of Owensboro, peacefully went to be with the Lord after a strong and courageous battle with a rare form of Leukemia. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Iva Sue was born on December 18th, 1941, to the late Leonard & Ernestine Barker. She was from Pellville, Kentucky.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James William “Jim Bill” Boarman; her son-in-law, David Mudd; and her sister, Jean Waldrip.


Iva Sue is survived by her five loving daughters, Deborah Mudd of Owensboro, Maria (Randall) Toth of Owensboro, Jennifer (Bill) Bergner of Knoxville, TN, Vickie (John) Ballard of Owensboro, and Jamie (Keith) Kirby of Pelham, AL. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Bridget, April, and Danielle Goetz, David (Shelby) Mudd, Jessica and Jason Toth, Ashley, Shelby, and Taylor Bergner, Tyler (Caroline), Blake (Jennifer), and Samantha Roberts, and Allie and Ivy Kirby; her great-grandchildren include, Chase & Brice Coomes, Ivy Grace Williams, Sophia, Channing, & Jocelyn Wilson, Brooks & James David Mudd, and Adeline and Cyrus Roberts; additionally, she is survived by her siblings, Ronnie Barker & Judy (Mike) Freels.


First and foremost, Iva Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, & great grandmother. Family was everything to her! Iva Sue had a very strong faith in God & handled all life presented her with the utmost class & grace. When Jim Bill was alive, she enjoyed going to their river house, boating, & going on cruises. Iva Sue also loved hosting large get togethers while listening to table talk & playing rummikub.


The funeral Mass for Iva Sue Boarman will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Father Ed Bradley and Father Mike Clark officiating. Burial to follow at St. Mary Magdalane Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 until 7 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with prayers at 6:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 am till noon at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.


Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Leukemia Research Foundation or God’s Outreach.
