Isaac W. Tooley

Isaac W. "Ike" Tooley, 69, of Owensboro, passed away at his residence on May 30, 2012 after a series of long illnesses. He was born in Axtel, Kentucky to the late Isaac Franklin Tooley, Jr. and Golda Lee (Poole) Tooley.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served for 18 years as either active duty or active duty reserve.

Ike retired from Owensboro Municipal Utilities. During his retirement years he worked for GRITS transporting the sick and elderly. He thoroughly enjoyed this and had many good relationships with these folks. Ike had also worked for the Daviess County Fire Department (Thruston and Airport locations) and volunteered at Yelvington Fire Department.

He attended Hall Street Baptist Church. Ike enjoyed making stained glass and working on cars. He had a special way with animals and was almost never without a pet. Family was important to Ike and he especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mike and Patrick Tooley.

Ike is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janet Tooley; a son, Dane H. Allen of Newburgh, IN; a daughter, Shonna L. Jenkins (Bill) of Port Charlotte, Florida; a son, Dirk H. Allen (Bunny A.) of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Crystal S. Dukate, Skyla C. Allen, Isaac M. Jenkins, Linley J. Jenkins and Sarah E. Allen; 2 sisters, Sheila F. Tooley of Owensboro and Gaynell Dye of New Albany, IN and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 2 at Hall Street Baptist Church. Friends may visit following the service until 5:00 pm at the church.
