Irvin Ray Anderson

Irvin Ray Anderson, 85, of Owensboro, went home to glory December 20, 2024 under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. The youngest of four boys, he was born to the late John W. and Monnie Snyder Anderson on August 20, 1939, in Hancock County, Kentucky.

In the late 1950’s, he met his first wife, Linda Powers, at Pellville Baptist Church. They were married for 10 years and had two children, Rashel and Barry.

After graduating from Daviess County High School in 1958, Irvin attended the Police Academy at Eastern Kentucky University before joining the ranks of the Kentucky State Police as a State Trooper.

In 1970, he married Lorraine Davis, whom he loved until her death in 2022. They had two sons, Jay and John.

Irvin was a kind, sometimes grumpy, man of many talents. During his life, he enjoyed working construction with his brother Wilbur “Andy”…even if they did argue like cats and dogs! He also worked in the oil drilling business and proudly retired as a crane operator from the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 181.

Irvin enjoyed spending time at local coffee shops, talking to his buddies; tinkering with old equipment, especially old John Deere tractors; genealogy (which meant many drives to old cemeteries); and listening to Hank Williams songs.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 plus years, Lorraine Davis Anderson; three brothers, Wilbur “Andy”, Coleman and Ernest; and his son, Barry Glen.

He is survived by his daughter, Rashel Anderson and son-in-law, Charlie Keelin of Owensboro; son, Jay Anderson and daughter-in-law, Deanna, of Lewisport; son, John Robert Anderson, of Owensboro, and his caretaker, Christina Martinez; his grandchildren, Ashlyn Anderson-Keelin, Erin Campisano, Austin Anderson and Andrew Anderson; and two great-grandsons.

The memorial service will be at 4:00 PM, Thursday, December 26 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Private burial will be at Pellville Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Pellville Cemetery Fund, 2340 State Rt. 144 West, Hawesville, KY 42348 or towards Parkinson’s research at the Michael J. Fox Foundation, give.michaeljfox.org.
