Irvan Farmer, Jr., 77, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at his home. The son of the late Irvan and Clara Kelley Farmer, he was born March 16, 1928 in Ohio County. He worked at Colonial Bakery where he was a truck mechanic and Green River District Health Department. Mr. Farmer was a member of the Friendship Church of Christ in Ohio County and he was a member of the Masons Lodge #600 of Fordsville. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, and University of Kentucky basketball.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Florence Harrison Farmer; children, Debbie and her husband Jimmy Griffin of Owensboro, Steve Farmer of Owensboro, and Scott and his wife Pam Farmer of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren, Jason and his wife Kim Griffin and Sandra Griffin all of Owensboro; great-grandchildren, Shane Daugherty and Brittney Griffin both of Owensboro, and a brother, Darrell and his wife Kaye Farmer of Owensboro.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home with Jimmy Bunch officiating followed by burial in Friendship Church of Christ Cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Mitchell Cancer Center or to Hospice.
