Irma R. Simon McFarland, 88, of 3618 Comanche Place, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Edwin & Irene Reising Simon. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and retired from the developing lab at General Electric Co after 45 years. She was also a member of the Alpha-Omega Club and had been president of the Live Wire Bible Class at the church for 10 years. She loved traveling, sewing, and spending a lot of time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, David A. McFarland in 1994, five brothers and sisters, Victor, Clarence, Joe Bill, and Paul Simon and Mary Skaggs, and a nephew, who she raised as a son, Donald Simon.
Surviving are two sisters, Lucille Goetz and Patty Hamilton, both of Owensboro, several nieces and nephews including a nephew, who she also raised as a son, Jim Simon of Owensboro, three great nieces that she raised as her granddaughters, Leiann Lashbrook of Utica, Krista Wibbels of Louisville, and Kara Simon of Owensboro, and four great grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 18, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Travis Cemetery in West Daviess Co. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
