Iris Hazel Small, infant daughter of Sadie Mattingly and Amiel Small, went to heaven on October 27th. Surrounded by her family, she left the arms of her mommy and daddy to be in the arms of Jesus. Although her time with us was so short, she impacted a tremendous number of lives. She fought the good fight, is loved beyond measure and missed desperately.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God," and, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Though it was the most difficult thing we've ever done, we released her into the rest that only Jesus Christ can offer. Though our pain is great, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. We do not grieve as those who have no hope but rejoice because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Family members who await to be reunited with her include her mommy, Sadie Mattingly; her daddy, Amiel Small; grandparents, Scott and Shannon Mattingly, Jeff Cobb and Melody Small; great-grandparents, Johnny and Keitha Miller, Mitchell and Paula Payne, and Sam and Sandra Mattingly; aunt, Samantha (Scott) Wall; uncles, Chris Cobb, Seth Cobb and Garrett Allison and cousins, Kaiden and Molly Wall.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
