Irene Leisure

Irene Leisure, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Morgantown, WV, a daughter of the late John Sabol and Mary Miller Sabol, she grew up there and later moved to Detroit where she met her husband-to-be Ray, a native of Ohio County. They returned to Owensboro in the late 1940's to rear their family. Irene loved dancing, rock and roll music, and her flower garden. She was a member of Breckenridge Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Leisure in 1995, her brother Johnny Sabol, and her sisters Helen Mantanin, Virginia Olivio, Ann Lee, and Mary Butterbaugh.

Survivors include her daughter, Rachel Leisure and her son Bobby (Jan) Leisure; her grandsons Lee Wilson, Ryan Leisure, and Robbie Leisure and her great-granddaughter Madison Leisure, all of Owensboro.

Visitation is from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Kosair Children's Hospital Burn Unit.
