Ira Lee Roberts, 83, of Philpot, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2005 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center. He was born in Daviess Co. Ky. to the late Edward & Pauline Jones Roberts. He was a 21 year retired fireman with the City of Owensboro, a retired Ky. State Fire Inspector for 15 years, and formerly owned the Roberts Highway 54 Auto Sales in Philpot He also worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps when he was a teenager and helped build & establish Audubon State Park in Henderson. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and enjoyed 4-wheeling and spending time with his family. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Reva Roberts in 1977, his daughter, Judith Faye Roberts in 1997, and five brothers, S. M. Roberts in 1958, Floyd Roberts in 1992, Clyde Roberts in 2000, Hampton Roberts in 2001, and Earl Ray Roberts in 2004.
Surviving are two brothers and their wives, Bryce & Sue Roberts of Philpot, and Ed & Bonnie Roberts of Utica, two sisters, Virgie Mae Bosley of Masonville and Dorothy Jean Barnett of Philpot, two sisters-in-law, Wilma Roberts and Helen Roberts, both of Philpot, an aunt, Thelma Kessinger of Louisville, and several nieces & nephews.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 18, at Providence United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Monday and after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home.
