Imogene Whittaker

Imogene Whittaker, 82, of West Louisville passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at her home. Born in Whitesville on July 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Rowe and Amy Hagan Westerfield; was a homemaker; and was a member of St Alphonsus Catholic Church. Mrs. Whittaker enjoyed fishing and games of chance, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Whittaker in 1997; a grandchild, Gena Rose Whittaker; sisters, Bernadine Westerfield, Lucy Morgan, and Mary Dickens; and brothers, Bernard Westerfield and J.R. Westerfield.

Surviving are her children, Darrel (Becky) Whittaker and Connie Schoonover of West Louisville, Larry Whittaker, Sandy Bivins and Debbie (Jimmy) Benningfield of Owensboro, Mike Whittaker of Whitesville, David (Benita) Whittaker of Elba, and Sharon (Jerry) Benningfield of Calhoun; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Homer "Jim" Westerfield.

Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Father Ray Goetz officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Prayers will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
