Imogene A. Carter

July 28, 1929 — October 10, 2006

Imogene A. Carter, 77, of Franklin, Tennessee, previously a resident of Owensboro, Kentucky, died on October 10, 2006 after a short battle with cancer. She was a member of Owensboro Christian Church. Mrs. Carter was a Registered Nurse and a business owner. She received a Diploma in Nursing from Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital and later graduated from the University of Evansville, receiving a BSN degree and an MSN degree. She was the founder and owner of Community Health Services. She was a member of the Owensboro City Commission and the first woman to be a member of the Board of Directors of Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital. She was appointed by Governor Wendell Ford to the Kentucky Board of Nursing, serving a five-year term. Mrs. Carter enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Lee Carter. Survived by daughter Carol Carter Ezell, son-in-law Kenneth P. (Pete) Ezell, Jr., grandchildren, Kenneth P. (Trey) Ezell, III, Emily Carter Ezell and Katherine Armstrong (Katie) Ezell all of Brentwood, Tennessee and brother Marvin Armstrong of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Honorary pallbearers are Steve Fort, Dr. Gary Fort, Chris Fort, Leslie Whitman, Bobby Johnson and Charles Reece. Visitation will be Friday, October 13, 2006, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. in Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will be private in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3000 Frederica St., Owensboro, KY 42301, or to Owensboro Christian Church, 2818 New Hartford Rd., Owensboro, KY 42303.
