Hulie E. Papaw Flener, 75, of 4090 Highway 142, Philpot, passed away Friday, January 23, 2004, at the Owensboro Medical Health System, He was born in Butler Co., Ky. and was a retired truck driver after 25 years. He was a member of the Owensboro First United Baptist Church, the Knottsville Lions Club and enjoyed Nascar racing and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife 0f 51 years, Betty Davis Flener, 2 sons and their wives, Bruce & Rita Flener of Knottsville, and Steve & Connie Flener of Philpot, 3 daughters and their husbands, Vicki & Willie Girten of Owensboro, Lisa & Nathan Webb of Olaton, and Kathy & Michael Feltman of Knottsville, a sister, Fay Cain of Lexington, 12 grandchildren, Chris & Jennifer Flener and Kyle and his wife Wendi Flener, Christina & her husband Rex Hill, Amanda & her husband Matt Lawson, Leslie Carroll, Heather & Amber Haynes, Brock & Brandon Johnson, and Jonathan & David Feltman, and 3 great grandchildren, Macy, Bryce, and Brayden, and several step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, at the Owensboro First United Baptist Church, with burial following at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday and from 1:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and after 9:00 A.M. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owensboro First United Baptist Church.
