Hugh C. Mills

Hugh C. Mills, 85, 2833 Chippewa Drive, Owensboro, died Friday, October 13, 2006, at his home. He was born September 21, 1921 to the late Willie and Florence Ward Mills in Ohio County. He retired from Hartz-Kirkpatrick and was a Army Air Corp Veteran of WW II. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and a past Grand Knight 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Owensboro Diocese Building Committee, past member of St. Vincent De Paul Society, loved dancing, playing cards, and was always very strong in his catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Yeckering Mills on May 10, 1995.

Survivors include his wife of 4 years, Margaret OBryan Mills; his daughters, Linda Ballard and her husband, Wayne, Sue Payne and her husband, Jim, Nancy Jones, all of Owensboro, Sr. Pam Mueller of Mt. St. Joseph; step-son, Eddie OBryan and his wife, Mary Ann of Owensboro, step-daughter, Barbara Hodskins and her husband, Ray of Philpot; nine grandchildren, Jim, Lisa, Bill Ballard and his wife, Christie, Kristie Hawkins and her husband, Al, Shannon Offerman and her husband, Andy, Shawn Payne and his fianc Amanda Gonzalez, Stephanie Jones, Stacie Kerney and her husband, Brent, Susan Chandler and her husband, Chris; eight great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, Jeff and Randy OBryan, Betty Ann Lane, Sharon Crowe, Ricky Peak and Kathy Flynn; and fourteen step-great-grandchildren; his brothers, Carl Mills and his wife, Gladys of Munster, IN, Ollie Mills and his wife, Sally of Mannington, WV; a sister, Maudwena Possum Holland of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, at St. Stephen Cathedral with entombment in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday and 10:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, with prayers being said at 7:00 PM Monday at Glenn Funeral Home, friends may also visit the family after 8:30 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Military Services will be conducted at the Cemetery by VFW Post 696. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephens Cathedral, 610 Locust Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
