Hugh Benjamin Bosley, Sr., of 2840 West Parrish Avenue, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at his home. He was born in Daviess County, KY, a son of the late George Pope and Mary Annie Rowland Bosely.
Mr. Bosley formerly worked for Fleischman Distillery and Veteran Cab Company. In 1963, he and his wife Catherine purchased the Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn, a roadside restaurant comprised of a handful of booths and a counter with a few stools.. Hard work, personal attention, dedication to customers, and a remarkable memory, resulted in the culinary landmark that has become world famous. He was actively involved in the business until his death.
His wife and business partner, Theresa Catherine Bosley, died in April of this year. He was also preceeded in death by his sister, Georgeann Burks. He is survived by four sons, Hugh Bosley, Jr., Kenneth Bosley, Sr., and Frederic Bosley, all of Owensboro; and Jerry Bosley of Huntsville, AL; a daughter, Janet Bosley Howard of Owensboro; a sister, Nancy Tongate of Owensboro; 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel.
