Hueston H. Wilkerson, 87, of Owensboro, went to be with his Lord that he faithfully served on Friday, February 12, 2010 in Owensboro. He was born on March 21, 1922 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Lorenzo and Georgia Thixton Wilkerson. He was retired as a supervisor with General Electric after 33 years and also as a supervisor with Swedish Match after 10 years. He was a lifetime member and deacon emeritus of First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School in the youth dept. for over 40 years. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Hueston was a good and faithful servant and an inspiration to all that knew him. To know him was to love him. He never met a stranger and made many friends during his lifetime. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and served his country in numerous battles overseas, and was a Ky. Colonel. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Hoover Wilkerson in 1990.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Anna Wilkerson, three daughters, Sharon Warren and husband David of Owensboro, Pam Bartlett and husband Boyd of Utica, and Sandy Phillabaum and husband Jim of Springfield, MO, six grandchildren, Kellie Hansen and husband Adam, Matthew Warren and wife Julie, and Lynsey Hamilton and husband Aaron, all of Owensboro, Brandon Bartlett of Evansville, Taylor and Jordan Phillabaum of Springfield, and six great grandchildren, Haley and Hayden Hamilton, Kelsie and Jake Hansen, and Elizabeth and Will Warren, and his special friends, Gerald and Mattie Jones of Owensboro.
Services will be 12 Noon Monday, February 15, in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in the Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 1:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday and after 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
