Hubert Owen Bruington, Sr., 88 of Maceo went to be with his Lord Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Breckinridge County on August 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Glenn and Anna Butler Bruington. Mr. Bruington was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather to nine children, 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild with 3 great-great-grandchildren on the way. He was a member of Southside Wesleyan Church; was a retired Union Carpenter; was a member of the Daviess County Fish and Game. Mr. Bruington lived on Carpenter's Lake with his wife for over 50 years where they enjoyed hosting family gatherings and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Glenita Quarles Bruington in 2013; a sister, Janet Sharp; a brother, James Bruington, Sr.; six infant siblings; a grandson, Jason Kellems; and a son-in-law, Ricky Payne..
Surviving are children, Hubert (Jan) Bruington, Jr. of Moseley, VA, Molly Bruington of Georgia, Judy (Jim) Roberts of Hartford, Debbie (Rev. Carl) Vanover of Owensboro, Steve Bruington of Maceo, Sheila Garcia (Gasper) of Nashville, TN, Sharon Payne of Masonville, Cathy Cotton (Lee Taylor) of Owensboro and Karen (Ricky) Cotton of Yelvington; sisters, Ruth Woolridge, Alice Smith (Jerry), and Martha Alexander (Donnie) all of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Carl Vanover officiating. Burial will be in Harned Cemetery in Hardinsburg with Rev. Don Bruington officiating at the graveside. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. .
