Howard E. Zimmerman, 95, of Owensboro, passed away May 28, 2017 at home. He was born February 19, 1922 in Lebanon, IN to the late Floyd and Leona Wills Zimmerman. Howard retired as an auto mechanic and served as a Master Sgt. During WWII. He was at Omaha Beach on D-Day and received many commendations for his service to his country. Howard attended Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Thompson Zimmerman; daughter, Patsy Zimmerman Coomes; brothers, William Zimmerman and Roy Zimmerman and a step-daughter, Linda Moseley Edmonson.
Howard is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Moseley Zimmerman; son, Jeff (Debbie Zimmerman of Philpot; grandchildren, Jeremy Zimmerman, Jake Zimmerman, Kelly Greer, Shannon Edge and Keri Duncan; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; son-in-law, Donnie Coomes; brother, Davey Zimmerman; step-daughter, Glois (Bill) Camp; 6 step-grandsons and 8 step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 12:00 p.m. Thursday.
