Howard S. Luttrell Jr.

Howard Luttrell Jr. 78, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born on April 10, 1947, in Daviess County to the late Howard Sr. and Jacqueline Smith Luttrell.

Howard was an accomplished trumpet player, earning himself a scholarship to attend college with his talent, and became an award-winning high school band Director for several high schools and colleges during his career. He also served as the music minister at St. Johns United Methodist Church here in Owensboro.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Luttrell.

Surviving are his siblings, Susan May, George Luttrell, Gary (Roberta) Luttrell, and Brian Luttrell; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; several cousins and close friends around the country; and his beloved therapy dog, Bella.

A graveside service for Howard will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026, in the Chapel of Peace at Rosehill Cemetery.

Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
