Howard T. "Tom" Jones, 83, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on December 7, 1926 in Daviess Co., Ky. He was retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local #1701. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the V.F. W. Post #696 where he was a past post commander. Tom enjoyed Nascar and was a Ky Colonel. He was a decendant of the family of Bill Smothers, who established the community of Yellowbanks, later known as Owensborough and now Owensboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Urey and Fletcher Merle Clark Jones, his brother, Clark Jones, and a niece, Patty Jones.
Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Fulkerson and husband Bob of Florence, Ky., two grandchildren, Ryan Fulkerson and wife Bethany of Independence, Ky. and Lauren Fulkerson Morelli and husband Joe of Gainesville, FL, four great grandchildren, Sam and Amelia Fulkerson and Alexandra and Julia Morelli, and a niece, Karen Myers of Louisville.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 14, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be after 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
