Horrell C. Trogdlen, 98, of Utica, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at his home after a battle with cancer. He was born in Utica, Kentucky to the late Bud and Bertha Trogdlen.
Mr. Trogdlen retired from Velvet Milk Company (formerly Owensboro Ice Cream and Dairy) where he was known as "Trog" for many years. He was a charter member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church. Horrell also enjoyed farming, gardening, quail hunting, U.K. Basketball, Yankee Baseball and swinging on his front porch while watching blue birds and hummingbirds.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Lottie Niceley, Agnes Burdette and Gladys Moseley.
Mr. Trogdlen is survived by his wife of 76 years, Dorothy H. Trogdlen; a daughter, Elvera Leonard and her husband, David; a son, Harley Trogdlen and his wife Minga; grandchildren, Jimmy Leonard and his wife, Jeannie, Lisa Kay Leonard, Natalie Johnson and her husband, Matt, Haley McCauley and her husband, Mason, Mallory Davis and her husband, Alex; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Simpson and Austin Leonard; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one nephew and three nieces.
The funeral service will be at 3 PM Sunday, June 19 at Lewis Lane Baptist Church. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 until 7 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation on Sunday will be at the church from 1:30 until 3 PM. Burial will be at Green Brier Baptist Church Cemetery in Utica.
