Homer Claude Richardson, 87, Kokomo, formerly of Peru, IN., passed away at 1:00 a m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at North Woods Village, Kokomo. He was born September 19, 1925 in Livermore, Kentucky to Claude Lawson and Lula (Williams) Richardson. On December 29, 1945, he married Juanita French who preceded him in death on September 13, 2007.
He enlisted in the United States Navy on November 18, 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 28, 1945.
Homer was a furniture maker who could look at a finished product and know how the frame was built. He was employed by Murphy-Miller Chair Co. in Owensboro, KY, Tell City Chair Co. in Tell City, IN, Jackson Chair Co. in Danville, KY and retired in 1991 as plant superintendent for Guildcrest Furniture Industries, Inc. in Peru, IN. He was also a member of Paws and Taws Square Dance Club and various bowling leagues. His hobbies included gardening, candy making, woodworking and word finds.
He is survived by sons, Tom (Jane) Richardson, Kokomo and Travis (Connie) Richardson, Evansville; a grandson, Erik Richardson, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a granddaughter, Lindsey (fianc Casey Jackson) Richardson, Evansville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Juanita; 9 sisters and 1 brother.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday November 30, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Dale Hartlein officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 696 and the United States Navy. Friends may visit with the family from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
