Hester Mae Carrico

November 4, 1918 — May 15, 2008

Hester Mae Carrico, 89, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, May 15, 2008 at the Hermitage. She was born in Hardinsburg to the late Shelly Hook and Eva Mae (Dunn) Taylor. She lived in Bowling Green for 18 years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Women's Altar Society there. She was an avid reader of history, novels and poetry. Her favorite quote from Robert Frost was "Nature's first green is gold;The hardest hue to hold". She retired as a sales clerk for J.C. Penny in 1994 after 20 years in Towne Square Mall. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking, baking, and crocheting.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, Francis Xavier Carrico in 1992 and a brother Russell "Rusty" Hook, and sister Lucille Schoff.

Surviving are her children; Michael F. Carrico and wife Barbara of Owensboro, Ronnie Carrico of Bowling Green, Kevin Alexander Carrico of Lewisport, Patricia Ann Huff and husband Bill of Harrodsburg, Debbie Bloomer of Owensboro, and Pamela Hardesty and husband Carl of Lewisport, grandchildren; Cathy Carter, Cindy Brown, Carrie Mayes, Jeff Carrico, Chris Huff, Heather Coffin, Belinda Gilmore, Cara Hardesty, Steve Hardesty, Jon Carrico, Brian Bloomer Brad Carrico and Nikki Carrico, and 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 19, 2008 at Sts Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with entombment following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. with prayers at 6p.m. Also visitation will be Monday after 8:30 a.m. until funeral time. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, TN.
